How changes in technology impact on human communication, and the ethical issues that surround these changes.

Technology has changed a great deal over the years with the advancement of computers and the ability to make faster and more powerful units by also making computers small enough to carry in the individuals pocket such as smart phones and tablets.

The internet has also evolved in time with faster more reliable ways to connect online such as adsl and cable connection. The dial up connection is a thing of the past.

With these technology advancements, people are able  to connect to family and friends all around the world more easier and faster. Social media application such as Facebook or Skype allow free calls to other users around the world. Pictures and messages are also easily and instantly shared with the use of Facebook, Instagram and twitter.

Technology has allowed humans to communicate with one another without leaving the comfort of their own homes but is this a good thing or a bad thing, I would ask you to decide and have a think of what you value most. Has technology made us more social or has it actually made us anti-social. Have we as human beings  discovered how to communicate through a screen or a wire and forgotten how to connect on a personal, deep and much meaningful way. If you catch public transport you would find that a majority of passengers would be looking at the screens of their smart phones. We have lost the ability to communicate and talk to one another in person but we have developed a language of abbreviation and emojis.

Hackers and professional computer technicians are able to break through cyber security and intrude to an individuals computer or even hack a person’s Facebook account and steal people’s personal information.

So I ask you, is having advanced technology and being able to talk to people through a screen worth the sacrifice of our personal information and the loss of our ability to socialise to one another in a spiritual and more personal level?

You decide....
